Our marriage went through bouts of intense clinging and weeks of purposed separation.
I would travel alone with the kids when we were off and we would stay gone as a family when we were on.
The kids and I celebrated Easter in both Augusta and Covington.
In Augusta, it was cousins and egg-hunting fun as usual.
In Covington, it was obvious my grandpa had started decline.
This was the time of the PinkBedroom phone call... a commitment made to keep trying to make our marriage and family work.
After Easter, we drove to Atlanta to see the King Tut exhibit, perfectly timed with what we had been learning in school.
We went to Charlestowne Landing, took the kids to a Riverdogs game and the USS Yorktown - our trips to Charleston would start to pick up in the interest of a potential business deal:
We lost my Uncle Joe. The kids and I went to Lumberton to grieve with Aunt Rosie.
I took them to EdVenture for a field trip
and we lived the days as they came - for example, ten years ago, in April, we worked to be Presidentially Fit...
As April came to an end, we were sure that we wanted to keep holding on... the King & Prince bore witness that we'd never let go again...
